  1. Coach, I am going to try and attach a diagram - but not sure if it will work.
  2. Coach, The back side wingback in motion - we would put him in 5 step motion instead of 3 to get him far enough so when the QB reversed out and pitched him the ball he would be at the B gap area. Score Big! Excellence Through Execution Blair Hrovat WingT.Com
  3. Coach, Are you talking about the Toss Play - if so - yes the fb would lead the play - the beauty of the play is you will always have equal numbers at the flank. Vs a 4-4 the hb blocks the olb and the receiver blocks the corner and the fb is the extra guy for either a missed block or the fs. vs a 4-3 the fb will get the cover 3 ss or the cover 4 quarters player usually still the ss. vs a 5-2 he will get the cover 3 ss or you can go away from him and have the fb get the cleanup to the fs again. 4. Coach, Depending on your blocking on the triple - to the spread side we would have the center reach the A gap player with the fsg's help with a punch technique keeping the shoulders square and have the fst loop the 5 technique for ILB. so the fsg and fst have responsibility for the fsilb one for the dive and one for the Qb. Then we would run 31 toss to that same flank with the fst reaching the 5 technique and the fs wb blocking the olb knowing if he just keeps outside leverage and if loses the man he must only lose him inside where he wont be a factor in the play. These two plays give both the DE and the OLB a tough conflict. They both give the same look and fb path and motion to the se side. Excellence Through Execution Blair Hrovat WingT.Com
  5. I havent run jet much but .... the block is the same on the toss with the exception #2 might be more aggressive. Remember one play will effect the other....so run the kp off of the jet to keep the defense from cheating - the base kp you run should be designed so it is like a long handoff and you feel confident about its success rate or you wont call it enough. So if you keep the defense off balance (really #2) than your chance for success are greater on the stalk block by the wb. A great drill for the Wr and the HBs for stalk blocking in their individual period is to have the WR and the HB face each other about 5 yards apart and put a cone behind the Hb about 3 yards back. Now tell the wr he must release off of the Hb and tell the Hb he must stalk the Wr and keep him from reaching the cone 3 yards behind him. This gives a realistic look without using a defense and keeps the Mass teaching techniques because both players are working on fundamentals and you can have 5 of these drills going on at one time - setting them up like shoulder skills. 6. I am not sure I am one of the Old Guys but....here goes anyway...... It sounds like his release with his fingers is not right. when he releases the ball the first finger to come off the ball is his pinky then his ring finger than his middle finger than his index finger. the index finger tip is the last part to touch the ball. That is what gives the ball the spiral - the nose down is a result of the ball coming off of the middle finger last which is a common problem for hs qb's. Does he palm the ball ?- their must be at least one finger space between the ball and the palm. The other problem sounds like(it is hard to tell with out seeing him)he doesnt rotate the point of the ball when he throws. When the ball is in his hand in the "throwing circle" (area parallel to his head) the point of the ball should be pointed to the sideline and when he pushes the ball back w/ his offhand the point should pointing behind him and then he throws the ball forward with the release point at the top of the motion. His elbow should be above his shoulder at the release point. It is tough to explain w/out showing you in a demo - but the is the best explaination I can give. Score Big, Blair Hrovat
  7. I also want to thank the "entertainment committee" especially coach potts for the dorm entertainment and coach Mcdonald for the food stops. I had a great time in owensboro and was extremely impressed with the coaches and the their teams. Coach Klausing - thanx for the invitation. Score Big, Blair Hrovat
