  1. Coach Elrod, Have you ever tried flip flopping your o-line? Positives/negatives?
  2. Thanks for your thoughts on this. One of our coaches did suggest the wrist bands and it might be something we need. However, we are going to try your method Coach Elrod, so when the posse forms we'll know where to send them! :-P
  3. Men, Thanks for thinking of me on this rule. I will try to understand your priorities! :-P We are in between now and want to look half way intelligent when presenting to my hogs. Have a great practice.
  4. Can anybody help with the two-man rule as it applies to Belly-G. I have all books and videos, if it helps. Thanks
  5. Coach Elrod, Does entire team look to formation signal; QB relay formation while huddle is assembling; or is formation relayed as part of play call
  6. Many have said that the waggle is the reason to run the wing-t. Back in the day, buck sweep/trap/waggle all meshed and teaching time seem justified, but it took incredible effort and intensity. Now, with rocket emphasis, I'm wondering if quick passing game; screen game; and, of course, counter game to backside can be enough make 'em pay? Trying hard to not overload their brains so that their feet won't work.
  7. Coach Preston, In Red/Blue 3-step passing, does the wing run the curl with the TE arrow and TE out routes? Protection = slide? On same route concept with play action = Red A-Rock example?
  8. Any of you head coaches like to be in the box on game night? Possible +'s or -'s?
  9. Went through same thought process and feel that jet package is essential add, if for no other reason, tremendous PASSING possibilities. (sprint-out-Bunch) Feel that all other Rocket plays are still the same in execution and philosophy. Just my thoughts after much, much thought and study.
  10. Sweet looking play! Thanks for sharing it with all of us. Just the other day our line coach was concerned that our tackles might not be athletic enough to lead through on our 28 KW. This might be an answer! Hard to see formations on the video though. Is that Northern - ? Any trouble with backside chase?
  11. Coach Cobleigh, Have tried sending eight player/coaches evaluation files to you many times but always receive undeliverable message. Have you changed your e-mail address? Do you have an alternate address? Coach Joe Player_Evaluation_of_Program_page_1.rtf
  12. Coach, Why the TE/Wing has always been my dilemma. If not to threaten the flank then might as well be in some other set. That said: how to put the crashing DE in conflict? I assume that he is squeezing down, therefore able to prevent KO G-Block or FB KO. If so, how about a log block by either? Down Option with G-Log or Power (one hole wider) with FB log--using the DE's technique to your advantage. Also the classic Buck Sweep is begging to be run with the Wing blocking Down on the DE and FSG KO on Corner. Finally, a coach in Owosso, Michigan runs his Rocket Sweep with the Down Scheme while his FST logs the squeezing DE and his wing reaches the corner (FST pulls for FSLB and his FSG pulls for the FS). Let me know what you think. :-p
  13. Coach Ting, I've got at least four files scanned and downloaded but can only send one page at a time on this forum. If you are interested, send your e-mail address. :-p Asst._Coach_Evaluation_page_1.rtf
  14. Coach A, Thanks for your outstanding advice! Once said, it certainly makes perfect sense! We have worked hard to use your advice and build this competition factor into all we do here in our summer conditioning sessions and, of course, will continue this focus into camp and the season. I'm not going to lie and say that it is always nirvana around here, but one would have to be blind not to see moments of increased ENTHUSIASM in the weight room and beyond! These successes have motivated our coaches and players to dream up other ideas. Try this one: Teams in the squat rack for the one minute test (how many reps in one minute). Members from opposing teams judge if the squats are low enough and count reps! Multiply the weight on the bar times the number of reps (we keep a small calculator on the marker board). Add the scores for each member of the team for the team score. Lowest team score runs a criterea; highest team score earns a gatoraide; highest individual scores posted in weight room. I like this for so many reasons: the weight, out of necessity, is very light (=no injuries); pool of S-W-E-A-T in squat rack after each effort, with athletes crawling out of the back of the squat rack exhausted, similar to effort necessary in a football game; but, best of all...we have genuine ENTHUSIASM at 7:00 AM, a bunch of kids actually excited and making noise, yelling and screaming encouraging their teammates. Yesterday we tried your advice at Lake Michigan running up the sand dunes. The kids had a blast while working their rear ends off at the same time. Thank you so much Coach A for opening a window that should have been obvious but, certainly has been opened! Hopefully, other coaches will share specific ideas that are working for their teams.
  15. Check out Andrew Coverdale and Dan Robinson's outstanding book and video titled 'THE BUNCH ATTACK'. Learn all you ever wanted to know about the BUNCH and more! Plenty of routes; philosophy; adjustments; lead-up drills; etc.
