buckeye7525
We run quite a bit of Waggle (easily our best passing play), but the issue we run into is that we really struggle with it vs. blitzing situation. He is our rules for Waggle, from the OL perspective: PST - Gap/Down/On PSG - Gap/Pull & Log Center - Away/On BSG - Pull & Lead QB BST - Reach & Hinge As a base rule we tell our BSG that he is responsible for any blitzer on the playside (our FB chips the blitz on the way to the flat), but that's easier said than done. Does anyone adjust their rules for a blitz? One of the things I've thought about is to just pull mabye the PSG and have the rest of the OL Reach & Hinge, but that'd be a pretty drastic scheme change. CoachBrooks
I'm also interested - having similar challenges.
jsanny
The FB is supposed to have the front side LB on blitz unless he is walked up and is considered on the LOS. Then you would treat him as a lineman and the front side guard would not pull if his inside gap is threatened. When we find it too difficult to get our front side Guard to pull, we call Ct Bootleg instead and the back side HB comes in motion and pins down the flank. You can also block the front side "Solid" and not pull the front side Tackle away.
buckeye7525
jsanny, If you were facing a 4-3 team (1 tech and 5 to the SE side) and they were running alot of Will LB off the edge would the FB be responsible for him? jsanny
No, he is not. He is responsible for inside LB blitz. If it comes off the edge, the back side Guard would be responsible for that.
coachperk
If we know a team is heavy blitz (3-3 stack) after watching film, we will the boot with sprintout (slide) protection, using the FB to block the edge. You lose your flat route, but all gaps are protected. It has really been a game changer for us. For example our boot quick is called Pass 319. Our sprintout is Blue (Left) and White (Right). So, if we get heavy blitz we would call Pass 319 Blue or Pass 318 White. You can also mix in a variety of routes with it if you absolutely have to have a flat route . buckeye7525
I really like that coach. That also allows you to not give any guard reads away too

Thats a pretty good idea. is this off of Bucksweep or Jet Action like Waggle?
