JetSweep.com is the brainchild of Coach Wes Elrod.
Coach Elrod is a 46-year veteran of both the high school and college ranks. He has really retired from coaching after six feeble attempts (LOL). On April 20, 2013, Coach Elrod was inducted into the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) Hall of Fame. He was also inducted into the initial Tennessee Football Coaches Association (TNFCA) Hall of Fame Induction at Cookeville, TN on Nov. 6, 2014.
He previously coached the offensive line at Cumberland University located in Lebanon, Tennessee under legendary Wing-T “guru” Herschel Moore.
Elrod served as head football coach at four high schools in the Metro Nashville school system for 23 years where he compiled an overall record of 173-81-2. Interesting trivia fact – Prior to post season playoffs in Tennessee, the State Champion was selected by the E.E. Litkenhous Poll. His 1975 Maplewood team was the final regular season State Champion selected by that poll. The Litkenhous polling was discontinued following the 1975 season
Elrod was twice named Tennessee Coach of Year (1976, 1991). He was named district or regional Coach of the Year four times and was the Nashville Interscholastic League “Tennessean” Coach of the Year in 1976. Elrod is a member of the Nashville Interscholastic League Football Hall of Fame. He has coached five players that became players in the NFL.
In 2005, Coach Elrod received the College Football Hall of Fame Middle Tennessee Chapter “Contribution to Football Award.” For several years, he was a hybrid wing-T clinician for Glazier Clinics at several locations throughout the United States.
Coach Elrod holds a BS degree from UT Martin where he was a two-year starter in football and earned a Master’s degree from Middle Tennessee State. Wes and his wife Dona have resided in Lebanon and Wilson County for more than 35 years.
