can you run the jet, for example, to the left out of the delaware 100 formation instead of a double wing formation?

The Jet sweep is a true sweep - designed to get outside - hash, numbers, sideline.

The Buck sweep is not a true sweep but designed to look like one.

It's difficult to pick one over the other - it's more a matter of picking a series.

Both sweeps have great inside and misdirection plays to compliment them.

The Jet sweep is easier to learn and block - because you have fewer players

involved and the blocks can be less precise. If you could only do one? Jet.

You can run the Buck sweep to the left - 129 - out of the 100 formation but

you'll need to run the Jet sweep out of Red formation - the WB needs to be

in full speed motion between the QB and FB. You can run Red 29 - to run both

sweeps from the same formation - just different motion.

The advantage of the jet sweep over the buck sweep is.....if you are running a 40 dash from the starting blocks and your opponent is running the 40 with a running start, who will win??? The jet sweep is much faster getting to the perimeter of the defense than the buck sweep.

It's the best run play in HS football if you have hb's with speed in my opinion. Our Jet back ran for 1,012 yds this season for a 10.1 yard average. The FB gut is a great companion play as well. It takes a liitle time to get the timing down, but when you do, WOW! We offset our FB and lead with him, zone playside and and block down with the playside wb and stalk with the se. This is just one way we blocked it. The nice thing about the play is that there are a number of ways to block it depending on the personal you have. We change every our blocking schemes each year, but the principles never change.
